MEDICATION POLICY

Without Surgery

We will do our best to advise you of other options. Narcotic pain medication will not be prescribed by Dr. Gill. Please let us know if you need a recommendation to a pain management specialist, or you may continue medication management with your primary care physician.

With Surgery

If you do require surgery with Dr. Gill, you will be given narcotic pain medication prescriptions for the 4 - 6 week period following surgery. Most patients discontinue narcotic pain medication 2 - 4 weeks after surgery. If you need pain medication beyond the 4 - 6 week period after surgery, you will be referred back to your primary care physician or you may choose to be referred to a pain management specialist. However, if you are currently under the care of a pain management specialist, all medication management will continue with that physician.

Remember:

  • Medication refills will not be handled on the weekend or after hours by the on call physician.
  • Should you have any questions or problems with your medications, please call our office.
